Im trying to figure out how to fill an image, but the overlapping image I don’t want to burn. I am new to the computer, laser, space, alien, wizard stuff.
This is going to depend on exactly what look you’re trying to accomplish with the internal components.
First try this and see if this gets you what you want. Move the current internal contents from layer 02 to match the fill 01 layer. By having both shapes in the same layer but overlapped will make LightBurn interpret the internal parts as cut-outs of the outer shape.
You can more easily see how this will look if you switch your view style to one of the Filled styles. You can toggle back and forth to this with Alt+Shift+W or choose in the Window menu options.
If you are looking to have the line layer 02 burn the red portions in a specific way then you will need to first cut-out an outline of the internal shapes from the outer shapes in the fill layer essentially leaving a hole. This will allow the line layer to have a blank canvas to work from.
Come back if it gets to that and we can help. Upload your .lbrn file here if you’re willing.
Thanks. I think I figured it out. I just needed to group the imaged together then convert to bitmap with fill. I dont know if its the right way but i think it will work.
Based on your final result consider trying my first method listed as I think it will give you a similar result. It will give you more options in the future. Raster (Image) burning is handled differently than vector (line/fill) burning and good to have that familiarity as you progress.
