Although letters are just shapes drawn & placed together according to convention, LightBurn treats text differently to other lines and shapes drawn with a pen. This is understandable and very handy when you want to do simple text manipulation. But it does limit your options when you want to do less conventional editing. To have your cake and eat it, convert the text to paths. Type the i, select it (arrow tool), choose Convert to Path (Edit menu). Now select just the dot pf the i and place it wherever you want. The downside is that it will never behave the same as text once converted to a path.

If you want to create text in LightBurn, choose the ‘A’ icon for ‘Create / Edit Text’. If text is just shapes, you can use Group to keep things together.
