Hello
the title is the question “how to import an .XCS file on Lightburn?” xcs is a file from XTOOL
Jean-Marc
LightBurn does not support this file format. What is this file and what does it contain? Does the XTools software provide alternative file formats for export you could use? If willing, share a bit more about what you intend to accomplish, and we may have some suggestions for alternative workflows.
thank you for your reply.
It is a vector file generated by Xtool from its software. Xtool provides links to work with Lightburn but Lightburn does not know how to recognize files generated by Xtool. I would like to use this file to edit with Lightburn.
Correct. LightBurn supports many of the industry-wide and published file format standards.
I am not familiar with the export options available from the XTools software, but I would look to see if one of the LightBurn supported formats are available from XTools. If so, you can then import that file into LightBurn.
XCS does not allow for any export.
However, there’s an online utility that’s purported to be able to convert XCS files to SVG. I have not used this and cannot otherwise endorse it but might be useful if you’re stuck with some XCS files.
Convert XCS to SVG :: Free converter (BETA!) (nanovsky.github.io)
thank you for this suggestion. But the file I wanted to convert with this app didn’t work well. I saw that the application was in beta maybe later it will work more efficiently.
If you are willing, we would like to review this XCS file. Two simple rectangles, say 100mX100mm, one set to cut and the other set to fill would do. Posting this file might require appending dot txt [.txt] to the file first.
I mocked-up a few samples in XCS.
- 3 rectangles - apparently there are 3 operation types in XCS: score, engrave, cut. I’ve included 3 100x100 mm rectangles. The operation is associated to the object, not to the layer. I’ve arbitrarily put the rectangles on 2 different layers.

Thank you, @berainlb!
here is the file with txt extension

Thank you. I have shared these with our team. I will post back when I have an update to share.
OK thanks for that.
