I am sure you will agree that the cleanup phase of your project is a pain in the @$$ if you have to use acetone to clean up the white paint that was not engraved.
Did you know :? It is as simple as switching to using a water based paint found in RUSTOLEUM Inverted paint can used to mark on a field for sport games or construction
The YouTube presenter does a great job showing 3 different methods of preparing the tile. Also shares what type of tiles are best and why. I never knew that there was a faster way to remove the titanium dioxide paint until I discovered his video.
This video details IMHO the easiest NWT method I’ve seen yet… with darker grays and blacks, faster jobs, and water cleanup. I followed his super-easy recipe [initially] to the letter and later substituted Floetrol for the glue… i.e. 3 parts water, 1 part Elmers school glue/Floetrol, 1 part TiO2 powder, and a few drops of food coloring. Lightly brushed on… not messy at all and super-fast cleanup.
Thanks. Just lightly apply with a foam brush and use a small propane torch to pop any bubbles instantaneously! Food coloring also makes it easy to tell that the coating is evenly applied.
great no paint splashes everywhere, also I have a very small airbrush for nails, bought for 10 euros on the net, it’s super precise, it doesn’t spray everywhere around
I bought a can of this stuff and found it is fairly east to work with. I make 2 passes and that seems tto be enough. Did learn this stuff is SLOW to dry. I let it dry for about 20 minutes, then finish it in my Emeril Air Fryer, 180 degrees, 10 minutes.
Hey Mike! what does the Air-fryer do to the finish.
I have a 22L vacuum chamber and was thinking that a few minutes in there would get rid of bubbles and smooth the surface.
Fairly smooth finish, like flat paint spray. Not getting a good enough result so far to decide if I am having a consistent coating issue. Bad thing about tiles is that you get one try and toss it. Can’t sand it off and start over.
Make sure you have great ventilation. Titanium dioxide is VERY toxic to us humans and it passes through the brain blood barrier if absorbed. It is found in all things white from paint to things that we eat. Funny that most of it is labeled as food grade.
Google it and you will be very surprised if you dont already know
TRÈS JUSTE
Tio2, titanium dioxide is indeed very toxic, banned in food, because it is composed of many nanoparticles, in France, it is only just authorized in medicines (in the process of being banned). It is a whitening agent, used en masse in many white paints!
