How to prevent fire underneath material on slat bed?

I always put wet paper toweling on the bed underneath the “raised” acrylic. Seems to prevent flareups. Also, avoid loose backing paper at the edges. It will catch first, then ignite the acrylic.

Anyone ever used CO2 instead of room air?

AFAICT, only industrial users have the facilities for an inert assist gas, due to the suffocation risk from a leak or an “Oops, I forgot to turn off the gas” incident in a house.

Also, it seems organic materials have enough oxygen bound up in their structure to support a cheerful blaze, even without additional oxygen from the assist air stream.

Good to know!
