How to properly set the minimum power for the pulse

I have a Monport 80 watt with a Ruida with a KT332N. I am using Lightburn software to move the head, and hit the pulse, yet it will sometimes has set fire to the tape. Any ideas on how to lower the power or a better procedure?

I had just finished installing a milliamp meter on my new OMTECH ZF2028-60E 60-watt laser (it has a KT332N controller). Too make sure I had the wires connected correctly (the instructions I found online were wrong) I put a scrap piece of 1/2" plywood on top of my pristine waste board (I hadn’t engraved the 700 by 500 grid yet) and hit pulse twice.
