How to rehome laser after position is lost

“hard limit triggered. position likely lost. rehoming recommended.” Can’t seem to rehome. what am I doing wrong?

Lance

Can you post your machine make and model.

If you power off and then on again and press the Home button, will it go to Home position.

Can you search for and read “How to ask for help”, that will tell you all the info you can post here that will get you help much quicker.

Kind regafds

Sorry for the lack of info. I have an X tool D2, 20W. If i power down then back on and hit home, the laser travels over and hits the side rail. I get a message saying “hard limit triggered. Starting position likely lost. Rehome laser.”

So it goes, I guess, to the Back left corner and it hits the limit switch.
This means its trying to home but the Grid system on your screen and where the laser machine thinks it is are different.
You should search in the Forum Topics for this problem…you will find it there as this comes up a lot. Make sure you include your make and model in the search.

I suppose you are in Absolute Coordinate when this happens.

Try switching to Current position and Turn OFF machine (place laser head somewhere in middle and Turn ON again.
Go to MOVE window on screen and use the Arrow keys to move the laser left/right…Forward/back…Does it move ok?

I’ll do a quick search for similar problem and see what our next step should be.

Hi Lance
For the search, I typed into the search box…X Tool, Homing…and got a lot of topics. Have a look through and try to find similar problem to yours and see how they fixed it.

Another X Tool user might see this topic in the mean time and try to help more.

Try to check out if all the wires are connected properly…That also seemed to be an issue with xtool homing.

Thanks Pete. I’ll check out your suggestions and get back to you.
Pete, Thanks for your suggestions. After much head scratching, and maybe a few four-letter words of observation, I solved my problem. Unfortunately, while I was able to solve the problem, I was unable to find just what the problem was! Here’s what I did. In LB go to “Preference” > “Load preference Backup” > pick a backup from a date prior to the problem starting, > “Load” and all is back to normal. Hope this helps some other tech-not-savy person like me.

Delighted to hear you found the fix, good thinking.
Yeah, its one thing after another here with not much scalp left from head scratching.

Good luck going forward.
