…can also be used generally to change direction of a non-closed path.
I’m not sure whether any of this can be used on closed paths.
Apologies if this is already covered elsewhere.
I wanted to put text around a spiral path that I had imported (using apply path to text), but found that the text always started at inside of spiral and ran towards the outside. Changing the start point of the path in Lightburn had no effect on text direction.
The solution I found :
-
Use the offset tool and apply a very small offset around the spiral path then remove the original spiral. This results in a spiral shaped “sausage” which is a single closed path. The direction of the path goes one way on one side of the “sausage” and vice versa on the other, then delete the original path,
-
Use node editing to open the ends of the “sausage”, leaving two separate paths, both the same shape but going in opposite directions.
-
Separate the two paths and apply the text to the path which goes in the direction you want the text to go.
