How to save reloading of deleted “machine setting” back into lightburn console

Ok, I made the changes requested with screen shots. I attempted to laser the square and it did nothing. I tried homing it and it makes a little movement in the upper left corner or it moves from the left upper corner to the left lower corner and runs into the base of the laser and makes an awful noise and doesn’t stop until I turn the laser off. I attempted to frame the job, which it did, but very slowly and what looked like was it was off on the size.
I am going to go sleep on it and any suggesting will be greatly appreciated.

With the laser successfully connected to Lightburn type the following commands pressing Enter after each one:
1 - Jog the laser by hand ( slowly ) to more or less the middle of the workbed.
2 - $RST=$ wait a bit type $$ and copy/paste here the console output of the settings.
3 - G0X0Y0 - to which corner does the laser move after pressing enter?
4 - Click the house button to home the laser. After homing type ? and copy/paste here the output.
5 - Post a picture of your laser.
6 - In which corner the laser has Home switches?

What controller board is in your k40??

had to turn off laser because it was ramming in the top right corner.

This is really, really important to know.

The K40 has a 300 x 200 workbed so:
Set $25=1000
$110=8000
$111=8000
$122=20
$130=300
$131=200
Power cycle the laser.

  • Jog the laser by hand to the middle of the workbed.

Click the arrows, 2 times the right one, 2 times the left one. 2 times the up one and 2 times the down one. The right arrow move the laser head to the right, the left to the left…
The arrows match the moves of the laser head?
If Yes GOTO 1
If No report back with the moves.

  • 1 - Check if your laser has a switch perhaps similar to the following:

at rear-left (maybe behind the X linear-guide…) or at front-left…
    If at rear-left GOTO 2
    If at front-left GOTO 3

  • 2 - Set $23=2 power cycle the laser and GOTO 4

  • 3 - Set $23=0 power cycle the laser and GOTO 4

  • 4 - Click the house icon to run a homing cycle.
Did the laser head homes to the corner that has the Home switches?
    If Yes GOTO 5
If No report back with the results.

  • 5 - Type ? in console. Did the output report coordinates 0.000,0.000,0.000?
    If Yes GOTO 6
    If No report back

  • 6 - Draw a square 50mm side and laser the square in a piece of cheap cardboard with power just to mark. Then check that the burnt square measures are 50 x 50.
If the measures are correct we´re almost done…
If No, set $100=160 $101=160 $101=160 then repeat the square test
    Else report back

.
Came back here with your findings and more issues.

Hi,
It is ramming in the top right corner.
The switch is in the top left corner.
As soon as I get to my laser I will post on the results of the next steps.
Thank you for your help.

Ok. The switch is the top left when looking at the laser bed, but I think that may mean rear left.
Also, The arrow movements worked, but the right arrow moves the laser to the left and the left to the right. The up and down go the same directions as the arrows.

Ok, The laser did home to the left rear/top without any grinding, but I got an ALARM:8. Screen shot attached.

  • 1

Set $3=1

  • 2

Set $27=3
.
.

  • 3 - Power cycle the laser and test again.

Ok, laser moving in the same direction as arrow.

Try the square?

Home was correct? Type ? and post the output, if all zero try the square.

Yes, laser is homing correctly. I ran the test square and it went through the motions but no markings.

Try with speed 50mm/s and 10% power.

ok. No laser output. It’s like it is framing, just the red light.

Increase power to 20%.
Check the values on AmpMeter during the run.
