I am not able to switch from diode to fiber on Mr Carve M4. Any thoughts? It looks like it is software controlled and the button on the side does nothing.
Also the focus button
Unless it’s something new, I don’t think there is a software command to change which laser you are using.
Also, hate to break the news to you, but many of these models are not a fiber laser – with only a maximum output of 2W from the 1064nM emitter. Unless you have a larger version – A link to your model would be nice as they do make various models.
Maybe one of the Lightburn people can answer you question, if anyone knows they do.
Keep our ears (eyes) open for @Rick maybe he can clear this up.
I can confirm that this has a 2w fiber and a 15w diode laser in the same unit. It uses some version of ezcad called BslApp which has a button on the software to focus the height of the head as well as another button to click to switch from diode to fiber. It’s not as powerful as I would have thought, but it does a decent enough job for what I need.
Here’s the link to the product.
If it does what you need it to do, then that’s all that’s needed.
It is not a fiber laser. The amplification medium is fiber and it’s usually many meters long. They also produce much higher watts out.
The only thing fiber about this is the frequency of 1064nM, that’s all it’s got in common.
Again, I don’t think the control codes are known for these operations. If you know or can find them, you could put them in a macro for quick access…
Do you know the gcode?
