I already have LB installed

for my CO2 laser. I purchased it several months ago, and all is well.

Now I have a 2nd laser. A 50w JPT Fiber from BWM. I’m starting out by watching this series of vids.

Laser Everything Setup for Galvo

At time marker 2:36 during his Clean install of LB, he ticks another radio button. But wait!! I already have LB on my PC, and did not tick that radio button months ago.

Soooooo, do I have to un-install LB, and go through the whole setup process for my CO2 and Fiber again? Can I run the install over the top of what I have, and tick that radio button he talks about.

I do have access to a laptop to install it on and use it for my Fiber laser.

Does EZcad2 have the drivers needed for Galvo Lasers, but LB doesn’t ? Since I already have LB installed, do I still need to install EZCad? Really confused at the moment.

Where to go from this starting point for the NEWB here.

I have 2 folders on a thumb drive that came with the machine, and it says "Software 100 Focus - 222mm.
And
"Software 200 Focus - 316mm

Within each of those 2 folders is EZcad install program within it, as well as Driver folders.

I know what software drivers do, but will Lightburn be able to see my new laser when I want to add another one? Will it ask where the drivers are? I.E. Thumbdrive…

To your first question - you can re-run the LightBurn installer and select the box for the EZCad driver and your existing settings and device profiles will not be lost. Once installed, as long as you never uninstall the driverm you won’t need to do anything else like direct LightBurn to where the driver is.

You do not ever need to install EZCad. However, you will want to import the markcg7 file from your EZCad folder, to import EZCad’s settings.

Did your laser come with multiple lenses? That would explain having two folders with two EZCad programs. If so, you’ll want to set up multiple LightBurn profiles for each lens, and import the correct markcfg7 file for each.

Hello JTR. Thanks for the info.

I guess first step is to decide on whether I want to run the fiber on a secondary pc/laptop, or on my main system that I run my CO2 on.

Secondly, run the LB install and click that EZcad radio button, then possibly follow his steps from there.

Oh, btw. Yep, I have 2 lenses. 100x100 & 200x200

Now the double folders make a bit more sense. Didn’t know you had to setup a each machine based on what lens you use.
