I just bought my first machine ever. I didnt do any research or know what im doing, I spend every weekend firguring things out and trying to get my first print done.
But for some reason, when i try to print something. My engraving does work, the laser does do something. But I don’t see it burning anything and it doesn’t get hot. I have no idea what setting to change or how to fix this. im sure that my machine is build correctly so it must be software
I googled and to burn wood i should set the power to 75% and the speed to around 1200. So I did that but still nothing.
If you fill your information out about what kind of laser you have, power etc we can do more. Most of these come as 3d milling machine, so it would help to know what power of laser you have… LED or solid state (ss) lasers are usually rated in input power, whereas co2 lasers are usually specified in output power.
I can see some of your settings are probably off. You should go over how to setup your grbl machine and how the coordinate system works…
This is a learning curve and you need to read and understand the documentation. If you read it and can’t make it work, then we’re here to help…
I can see your S-Value max is 7500, which should match $30 value of your machine, Lightburn recommends a different value… This effects how the laser power is controlled. This is explained in the setup link I posted.
Read the information, relax, have a … think about it… don’t work when you are tired or frustrated … you will just break something…
If you had done the research then you wouldn’t have to figure it out… as much
Yes, read through it and see if you can make it work.
All of us share information and that’s great… but in the end it’s really up to you to understand what you are doing. The more you know the better decisions and questions you can reasonably ask.
We can help you and maybe solve some of your problems, but we need people like to you be able to pass the knowledge on to others…
If so, you’ve misattributed those fields and how cut settings work.
First you need to fix the Device Settings.
remove the Scanning Offset Adjustment of 1200 that you added
For “S Value Max”, first go to Edit->Machine Settings and lookup the value of $30. It’s likely 1000 or 255. Take that value and replace 7500 with that value
I suspect your origin position is also incorrect but don’t change anything else for the moment. If your engravings end up looking rotated 180 degrees then change origin to bottom-left position.
After that, I highly encourage you to read through the beginner docs on how to use LightBurn. It steps you through the basics which I think will be useful to you.
There’s also a tutorial video series that’s worth watching. Some of the older videos may have slightly different UI elements from the current versions but the concepts still hold. You can watch newer videos to get like for like UI elements. Lesson #1 - First Time User - YouTube
