Try 3 or 4 different USB2.0 cables or connecting trough a cheap USB2.0 HUB.

Have to reinstall USB driver (CH340) everyday

I have a Macbook Pro also. Took three cables to find one that worked. I ordered it from Amazon, even tried a hub that didn’t work. I plug it into the right side of the Mac. I don’t remember installing the CH340 driver. Your laser may require a USB plug type different from mine.
