I had to buy a new engraver but I can’t get it to be recognized by Lightburn. I have followed everything online.
I created manually to no vail. Once I get to the point of uploading the software (I’m not very computer smart) there is only the main Atomstack but nothing else to add.
Here is another Swift 7 with the same issue, still a work in progress. Go through and try the things listed to see if you can get yours connected.
Hint: First thing to try is to create a Device in the Laser window Manually. It is very easy to do and takes just a minute or so.
Hi @Theresa1
The Swift 7 does not need to appear as a named “Swift 7” device in LightBurn. It should normally be added manually as a GRBL device using Serial/USB or if you found “Atomstack” that’s close enough!
After creating the device, make sure it is selected in the Laser window, then manually choose the correct COM port from the port dropdown.
A useful checklist:
- Install the Driver file provided by Atomstack, and find the QR code in the manual for the download.
- Make sure Atomstack Studio is fully closed before opening LightBurn, as it may hold the COM port.
- In Windows Device Manager, confirm the COM port appears/disappears when the laser is unplugged/replugged. (Right-click on the Windows icon, bottom left of your Windows computer, and select Device Manager.
Your engraver will show as something like USB Serial Device. Try plugging and unplugging the USB cable to find what changes.

If your computer does “see” the engraver, then LightBurn won’t either.
I found this exceptionally weird video for the Swift, but its good.
Looks like Lightburn is seeing the controller. Try entering ? in the Console window to see if it responds.
Screen snapshot: SHFT-WinKey-S is much more readable.
Make sure your connection settings like this:
If you still have issues try this diagnostic check please:
