I HAD a connection problem, but not anymore

Hey everyone,

I upgraded to LB 2.0.03 and everything seemed fine. I started a job and several times it stopped before completion. Lost connection to the machine. Soon after, it froze up all together. Uninstall then reinstall. Never connected again and software would freeze up over and over. So, I went back to 1.7.03. Software works, still could not connect to the machine.

Tired, I quit for the night. Next morning, without changing a thing everything works fine. YAY!

I still think LB 2.0.03 doesn’t like my machine, so I am staying with 1.7.03 for now. But, I don’t think this was completely 2.0.03’s fault. I have lost connect in the past for no obvious reason, only for it to work the next day. I can’t help but think this might be heat issue. Anyone heard of overheating causing connections problems? Seems like a strange cause and effect.

Thermal intermittent connections are often hard to pin down. I once had an issue with my 3018 where it would disconnect for no apparent reason. Then one day I bumped the USB cable and it quit. I eventually found the USB connector on the controller was soldered poorly. When I unplugged the cable, the board connector came off with it. Ended up replacing the board.

Try this: Make a 4" box, Speed 50mm/m, 0.25% power, and 25 passes. Run that and while it is moving, GENTLY wiggle wiring related to the laser power, controller power, and the USB cable on both ends.

If you don’t find a defect, at least you know these things are not the problem.
