I have a problem

Can someone help me, I’m a new to this, Lightburn and my machine is a atomstack, so the problem was that I was trying to use the rotary and when I want to return to work in the normal way I was doing it came this message and now I can’t use my machine, I don’t know what to do, can someone help if you can, thank you

Homing fail. Could not find limit switch within search distance. Defined as 1.5 * max travel on search and 5 * pulloff on locate phases. ok

[MSG:Check limits]

[MSG:‘$H’I’$X’ to unlock]

[MSG: Caution: Unlocked]

ok

This isn’t that bad, but it happens when you turn Rotary partly off or miss when plugging the limit switches back in.

MPos tells you where the machine thinks is. This is related to homing, and where the engraver has counted up to and back from to arrive at this answer. No problems here.

To fix this, we’ll need some description of the homing behavior that occurred while executing the homing operation.

We know from this message that something told the laser to perform a homing operation. Usually this is relayed by turning the engraver on with a setting telling it to ‘Home on startup’ or by pushing the Home button in the Move window.

There are a couple of ways this can go wrong.

If the work area is 400mm x 400mm, the engraver will command the engrave head to move toward the limit switches 600mm x 600mm and it should get there. (1.5x400)

The workspace could be set incorrectly in LightBurn and in the laser engraver. If one of the axis is set for 40mm to run the rotary, it might not get home after wandering toward the limit switch 60mm. Don’t worry about this. It’ll show up in the Settings report.

The engrave head should move along both the X-Axis and the Y-Axis. If the engrave head does not move on one of the axis, check to confirm the cable is plugged into the motor and the control board correctly and not offset by 1 pin.

The engrave head should move toward the limit switches. If it moves away from a limit switch, an axis may have been reversed to use the rotary. To find out the current settings, you can request a settings report from the Console window in LightBurn by typing the following:
$$
then press enter.
Please copy and paste this into a reply here.

To reset the Atomstack to factory settings you can enter the following into the Console window in LightBurn.
$RST=$
The controller should respond with ok.

Request the system settings again ‘$$ as described above’ and compare the results. Please copy and paste both reports and the reset command from the Console window into a reply here - it will be interesting to see what happened.

When the engrave head touches the limit switch it should jump back a small distance to release it. It will usually set ‘zero’ there but they can set maximum travel if that’s how they’re set up.

If the engrave head doesn’t jump back, it didn’t see the switch. The engrave head will crash into the edge of the machine and make noise until it gives up and throw the ALARM 9.

The switches can be turned off in one of the system settings.

The Reset code above should change it back to the factory defaults - it should be visible within the two sets of machine settings.

The switches could have been plugged in incorrectly. - check the cables to see if something has happened here.

Check Limits is some timely advice from your laser engraver…

LightBurn often unlocks a locked engraver.
LightBurn has unlocked your engraver and ‘ok’ means it’s ready to go.

Please attempt the homing operation and make a note of the directions, the switches and the switch behavior.

You’re really close to getting this running again.
Please let us know what happens.

thank you John, I’m going to try, have a nice day.
Sincerely Jose
