I have the ntly the software will not identify my device and i cannot rectify it

I have the Xtool D1 10w (non pro) and HP desktop. Recently the software will not identify my device and i cannot rectify it.

Does your D1 work on the same computer is XCS?

Make sure your firmware is up to date, this can only be updated in XCS.

Here are the instructions provided by the manufacturer on how to set up the device profile for your particular machine:

Thank you. Are there any concerns with my lightburn library? It no longer populates.

The material library is something you create and save to a folder on your computer. Search your computer for .lbart to locate it. The Art Library Window is not enabled by default. To open it, go to WindowArt Library .

Here’s our documentation on the feature:

I am on 1.4.03 and my library is missing and lightburn cannot find my device either. I am running on HP windows, operating Xtool D1 10w. and Creative Space XCS confirms firmware is currently up to date. Cretive Space was able to operate my device. Ligthburn still does not identify it.

Hi.

Welcome to the LB forum @RoughEdgesLLC

If I read that correctly, LB used to identify Your D1?
The changes that may have occurred and led to the curent situation, may provide clues or even the solution to the problem.
Was there for example a Win update or something like that around the time that LB stopped identifying You D1?

That’s actually very good news.
You’re at least halfway there, the ability to operate Your D1 with XCS pretty much eliminates the controller and file transfer related issues that are not that uncommon either.

If You have created or downloaded the LB library previously, and it has disappeared, there’s a good chance that the .lbdev file needed is missing as well.

The instructions on how to install that lightburn device file can be found in the link @JessN provided on her first reply.

Sorry, It actually is not saved. Only a few files are in there. I am referring to the library I used right in ligthburn software is also deleted. Is there any way to get a phone call to trouble shoot this error? I feel I have tried almost every angle. Do I need to install the update and buy a new license?

Thank you! No, I do not believe there were any drastic updates or events when this occurred. I was using it the night prior to this happening. I have plenty of freinds using the same version with the D1 and they are still using the old version with their license and have no issues. I also tried the link in her first reply and it is not pulling anything up to install. I am on the struggle to get this reset. My research says I dont have to update my license and use the newer version. Have I misread?

Hi.

You’re welcome.

That’s very strange, but obviously not unheard of in computer/software circles.
Usually things like that happen when something has been updated, and something else hasn’t.

It’s the:

xTool-D1-V2.lbdev

right at the beginning of that article in “Obtain and install LightBurn”.

You haven’t misread, You don’t have to have the newer/latest version.
However…

Since I’m on the D1 firmware & LB version that I installed a few years ago I can’t verify it, but here’s been reports that the D1 firmware version and the LB version has to “match”.
IOW to be roughly from the same time period.
That’s because Makeblock altered the D1 firmware (and possibly the .lbdev file as well) out of a whim without telling anyone, and LB tried their best to keep up.
And did an excellent job at that.

Of course, no one probably knows exactly which firmware version works with which LB version, so it’s pretty much trial and error type of a deal if something other than the latest ones of both is used.

That was a good while back, and at some point it was mentioned that some sort of an agreement was reached for Makeblock not to do that.
Your issue isn’t most likely because of that, simply because the firmware on D1 can not be updated accidentally, and the issue presented itself overnight.

The only thing I can suggest is to revisit the xTool link @JessN posted, download the .lbdev file, and follow the instructions on that link.

Sam

Edit: few typos.
