… can i use 6 different I/O to INITIATE 6 different program loads. This is industrial (not ad-novelty), I need a FAST change, frequently (2 seconds desired max operation time), to any one of the six programs i choose at will. Trying to avoid mouse/keyboard if and as needed.
The JCZ controller on mine, has a limited memory and I’ve never seen anything allowing separate jobs to be stored in memory. Along with no software that can select which one without human intervention.
These controllers are Chinese and they are not totally forthcoming on how they work …
If you can find any software that does this with this controller it might help.
I doubt this operability is even in the controller…
The only people that can tell you for sure is Lightburn … maybe @Rick has some insight into this…
Good luck
Hmmm, EZcad2 does that, multiple laser file markings, assigned to external IO inputs. Did they in fact not bring this into Lightburn ?
EzCAD has a few “Industrial” features that we have not brought into LB, this is one.
We are a small team and currently more focused on individual users rather than full automation users.
Job shops are easily needful … of any assisted automation of marking customer’s parts. Down the line I’m sure, okay for now, thanks …EZ2 only used for a few things … LB so so superior. Happy teching the laser world Joe, I started in 1977 ! with lasers full time thru 2008, 31 years. Worked for the worlds largest manufacturers, Siemens, Control Laser ( actually translated the German source code out of the $23,900 Siemens microcomputer and put it on an 8086/8 Texas Instrument chip about 1985 and smaller Control Micro Systems… also ran extremely succesful job shop 15 years marking over 3 million parts. Resurrecting that now at 67. Thanks again.
Industrial automation is my background as well. I definitely see where it would be great but not quite yet.
That’s an awesome story! I love hearing about how industry has become what it is. My grandfather put some of the first NC mills into Caterpillar as an Electrical engineer and his stories got me into industry.
Thanks for your kind and too, entertaining note. Im sure we will cross paths. When we did the German source code translation (and got UNDERSTANDING), developed new superior software, the CLC company I worked at would not make the right decision concerning a matter, my friend Tim Miller software guru, quit and formed Control Micro Systems in 1984, he then introduced the most sophisticated in the world for a highly cheapened price too, started retrofitting out the software from all those BIGGEST industrial manufacturers, GE, Siemens, AB Laser, Raytheon, CLC, etc . Then in about 5 years, SYSTEMS. Now, a MAJOR player, about 60 employees in Orlando, FL. competes with the BIGGEST players, was always technically, “ahead of the game”. Take care. My colleagues getting old, but still at Control Laser Corporation, Control Micro Systems, and Boss Laser - all in Orlando.
Lightburn is not a GUI interface for lasers. It is a platform for developing 2d (maybe 2.5D soon) motion control. Lightburn works with a vast variety of machines and controller boards. To be able to handshake with the hardware of all of them is not practical. I believe that is outside its intended mission.
