I want to verify my understanding of "Docking"?

This feature just moves objects in a single direction until it hits another. unlike nesting where it may rotate and position for maximum utilization of space. Yes, No, Maybe?

Yes!

I’ve been docking TrayInsert sections together, so the common line gets cut only once:

Docking probably doesn’t work so well with less rectangular pieces, but that’s what nesting is for.

This adds to my toolbox, thanks.
This is what I want to use.

Unless you’re doing that sort of thing a lot, IMO you can arrange things manually in a couple of minutes and be done with it. Dock the longer flat sides together, tuck the smaller ones around the bigger ones, and it’ll be Good Enough™ for all practical purposes.

It’d be amusing to watch the nesting software chew on the pieces, but I doubt the end result will be much better than what I suggest.
