Hi everyone. I hope you can help. I am very new to using a laser but I bought myself a Creality Falcon A1 (10w) to brand wood. I decided lightburn would be very useful and wondered if anyone would know how (and if possible) to bring the materials list and settings from Falcon design space into lightburn.
I don’t think so. Material lists don’t really make sense. Once you got deeper into the matter, you will understand. Each laser and material is different, so general settings are usually bad. Do your tests and decide which parameters fit you best. To get some feeling, read this:
Creality uses general settings, which are far from optimal. Each single sheet of wood is different and there is no “one fits all” setting for it. You can go slow at high power to be safe, but you will lose quality and time. Lasering is all about experience, just try, try, try
Thank yoou for this, Melvin
I understand about woods being different. I turn wood on a lathe and I only got the engraver to mark the bottom of the pieces I make. I just thought it would be easier to import a list of materials and then alter the settings according to results on the different woods.
However, I’ll read the article and I’m sure I’ll glean a lot.
Thank you again.
I thought so too, but have yet to use even one selection from the library. I am sharing for what it is worth. Remove the .txt extension, put in the Lightburn Libraries folder, and then load it into the Material Library.
I have now done this and it is so helpful. Thank you. I realise I’ll have to change the settings but it’s a good starting point for me.
Hi Mikey. Is this file up-to-date do you know?
Hi Mikey, if this file up-to-date do you know?
What do you mean “up to date”? I don’t think they expire. Remember, these are only guideline values. Your laser, your material, your room temperature, and the nearest UFO will impact YOUR results. None of this is carved in granite.
