Import SVG-Files with Text objects turns off welded text option

Hi! I am using Lightburn 1.7.0.3. The raw SVG I am using is attached.

it imports well and is still editable, but welded is turned off so on some fonts I need to enable it manually. Can I put something in the svg or change a setting to keep welded text activated on svg imported text?

Once you import an SVG into Lightburn any fonts are converted to vectors and are no longer editable as a font, or maybe this takes place at the export level from your drawing software. Either way, they are no longer fonts, just lines that look like fonts.

You can edit the text from the svg as long as the text is text and not converted to vectors but that was not the question.

@thelmuth did answer the question. Vincent asked if he could “keep welded text active?” Tim said it could not, “…any fonts are converted to vectors and are no longer editable as a font…”.

Not always. Lightburn supports importing SVG fonts if they are exported as a true font.

I can neither confirm nor deny this statement. I do all my own creations in Lightburn, If I do not like what the SVG sends, I change it to what I want.

Which is why I said maybe this takes place at the export level from your drawing software.
The file he uploaded as a test, did not import as a font. It imported as straight vector.

I created the SVG in Inkscape. LB imports the font correctly. LB does not export fonts to SVG files.

Yes it does. So, in conclusion, it depends on if your drawing software allows “embedding” the font? Not sure that’s the correct term.

Fully aware that he did not import a font. When I “worked” with graphics and dielines, all text had to be “outlined” or vector before printing. We had to maintain a database of every font we received in AI files, but to “rip” the file, they are all turned to vector.

I like that LB supports fonts on import in both DXF and SVG. It doesn’t support importing fonts from AI or PDF.
