Imported SVG goes from lines to double lines for cut and score

I am trying to cut out door hanger blanks and am getting complaints about the double lines in the file. The blue line is set to cut and the red set to score. Is there a way to make the red score lines a single line?

Pics are of the original file and then what it looks like in lightburn.

Can you attach the original SVG file to have a look at?

The image provided is a jpeg (a picture). If you image traced that, you’d end up with dual lines because LightBurn traces solid areas. We don’t have a “centerline trace” function yet, but InkScape does, and could produce a single line SVG from this.

HANG IT UP CO SVG FILES (9)

Here is the original. My customer is sending in jpg format (drawing on procreate) and I am converting to an svg then importing to Lightburn

HANG IT UP CO SVG FILES (9)

I have tried that and am still getting the same result

This is bizarre - I swear InkScape used to have this option, because I’ve used it, but it appears it has been removed.

Any other suggestions?

Perhaps just moved:

  • Import an image
  • Right-click
  • Select Trace Bitmap
  • The Detection Mode dropdown has Centerline tracing

Haven’t needed it in a while, but … there it is.

I’m running version 0.92, which might be the problem. Yours looks newer.

Aye!

There was a complex way to install a plugin for older versions, but it’s firmly integrated in V1.3.

I do not get an option to trace bitmap when I right click

I suspected that you had either traced them yourself or you had been supplied with an SVG that originated from a traced raster. As you’ve probably noticed: the SVG’s you posted are empty, so I upscaled your jpeg and tried to centreline trace it in InkScape. I didn’t have a lot of luck with that (pretty normal experience for me with tracing in InkScape!) so I traced it in CorelDRAW.

Here’s the result:
Door Hanger Blanks.lbrn2 (118.8 KB)
You’ll probably need to perform some node editing but at least it’s better than what you had originally.

Hope this helps.

Is that a raster or vector in your last post?

Are you running Inkscape 1.3?

Is that a vector image, rather than a bitmap?

Either of those would explain what’s (not) happening.

I have been having exactly the same issues. Up to now all my images have been closed circles where I have been able to delete either the inner or outer trace. The few that are not enclosed are straight lines which I have just copied on a new layer as a single line and deleted the old one. Interesting to see the suggested solutions and I will explore inkscape that I have on an old computer and try that as a better solution.
