Importing PDF scaling wrong

Hey everyone I’m getting some strange behavior when importing PDF the scaling is wrong the images were scans A3 but import into lightburn as 1651mm x 2333.72mm which is clearly wrong should be 297 x 420mm any ideas whats gone wrong?

Ha weird if I lock the size ratio and set the width to 297mm it corrects the scaling almost perfectly so I get 297 x 419.735mm

What do you have selected here?

Hi Rick I’ve got auto detect units set and millimeters, but isn’t that just for dxf files

I am so sorry, totally misread this. Please ignore my previous. :man_facepalming:

…efforting to find a definitive answer for you.

How was the PDF generated? What software did it come from? DPI information I believe is stored in the PDF itself. Do you know what DPI the file was created for?

It was scan on an office printer scanner from the file properties

PDFs are stored in “real units”, so this shouldn’t happen. Can you email the PDF to support@lightburnsoftware and include a link to this thread, so we can have a look?

I thought images in PDFs did store PPI information. But happy to be wrong.

[EDIT] I think I understand what you mean. The actual dimensions with units are stored for the image size irrespective of resolution.

Correct - PDFs and AI files are always in 72nds of an inch (points), regardless of the units you used to create them, so it’s next to impossible to get it wrong.

Ha we can do impossible Bahhhhhh

I don’t know if this is significant but if I change from mm to in its still wrong and also show the x and y dimensions as the same ie Square when it not but if I click on it and move it the dimensions change but are still wrong in inches

Can you show a screen shot of your LightBurn window with that PDF imported and the file selected?

Then after move

Sorry first pic does show the sizes try this one

Have you sent the PDF?
