In need for desperate help

Hi all,

i hope that someone can help me out as i cant figure out how the whole positioning of the laser.
i have a 3018pro with 300x180mm bedsize running GRBL 1.1.
I have the origin set in the lower left corner, but when i press “go to home position” (home button doesnt work…no endswitches) the laser ends up somewhere else every time.
also when i postion an SVG on the canvas in LB and choose “start from current location” the laser goes his own way and over or undershoots the board i wanna print on.
excuse me if im beeing a bit fuzzy but am just getting started with the laser, been using yhe cnc for a while now but wanted to try the laser.

This are my $$ settings:

$0=10 $1=25 $2=0 $3=2 $4=0 $5=0 $6=0 $10=0 $11=0.010 $12=0.002 $13=0 $20=0 $21=0 $22=0 $23=0 $24=2147483.648 $25=2147483.648 $26=255 $27=2147483.648 $30=1000 $31=0 $32=1 $100=798.004 $101=800.000 $102=800.000 $110=1000.000 $111=1000.000 $112=600.000 $120=30.000 $121=30.000 $122=30.000 $130=200.000 $131=200.000 $132=200.00 i hope someone can help me out cause i love the software...thanks

I am by far no brain on this but if you go to lightburn and console you can set up a macro with settings for your laser and set up the macros for your cnc. That is what i have done Copy and paste the setting for your cnc in 1 macro then copy and paste for the laser. Now like i say i am not the smartest but i saw a few that maybe should be changed to run the laser. $11=.02, $22= 1, $23=3, and $27=1 that is what i am running on my xcarve. You can change those on the laser macro and leave them alone on the cnc macro. When you load Lightburn just go to the console click the laser maro and run. When done go to console and click cnc and you can run the cnc. Not sure those setting will work for you but it is a shot. I am sure someone smarter will chime in.

thanks for the reply, but the laser is working fine, its just im struggling everytime to get the position of the laser setup correctly.
like when i move it to the lower left corner, and the work piece in LB is in the lower left corner and i use “current position” the laser seems to go where it likes.
I know its not a LB problem but i probably messed with some settings im not aware off.
I messed with the G54 gcode to, but dont know how to check that and / or put them back to default.

When you move the laser to where you want to start and have it positioned to lower left or center then you push start it just goes wherever?

Easiest way on the 3018 (which I have) is to move the laser to the bottom left (or your coner of choice)… Turn off the 3018 completely… Then turn the 3018 back on and connect it to Lightburn…

The software will now know where the laser is.

Basically Lightburn always takes the position the laser is at when it connects to the laser as the defined user position.

If you move the laser after you connect to Lightburn it won’t know where it is.

That seems odd to me.

yeah did that a couple of times, after that all seems to work fine.
i can use the laser pointer in LB and it will go excactly where i point it.
i press home again and it goes to the left lower corner.
i load up an image (SVG) to burn, use “start from current position” and the laser wants to go more to the left and the motor is skipping steps cause it cant go more left.
Because of this my “home” is now messed up also.
