Increasing the DPI and encountering issues with image engraving.

Greetings everyone. I prepared an image for engraving with an Atomstack M4 machine. Everything was going well until I increased the DPI. The laser started jumping to the upper parts of the design and leaving some parts of the image blank. Also, in this situation, the operation on my screen doesn’t reach 100% and the laser stops, leaving the image incomplete. This happens starting from DPI values above 220. Unfortunately, this value is not enough for the quality of my image and the image becomes pixelated and low quality at this DPI. Is it possible for someone to guide me so that I can engrave with a higher DPI? I’ve tried different file formats and my image DPI is 300.

Could you attach a copy of your .lbrn2 file so we can take a look at your setting?

Some pictures of the results you are getting would be very helpful as well.

Hey colin
As you can see, I have engraved on a black metal card, and you can see that it is half-finished and the operation is not completed.

Hi Theodor,

Does the preview complete, when you press Alt+P? I opened up your file on a ‘dummy’ Seacad device in LightBurn 1.7.03, as you have, and the file does preview completely no matter the DPI.

Hi Colin

yes, I’m experiencing the same thing. The file preview is displaying completely and correctly for me as well.

Results like this typically point to an output issue with your physical hardware or a flaky USB connection. How are you connected to the laser? Are you using any hubs or extenders between your PC and the laser?

I’m currently using the USB 2.0 B cable that came with my device and connecting it directly to my motherboard’s ports. Should I replace this cable with a higher-quality one? I’ve noticed that, oddly enough, this issue is resolved when I significantly reduce the design size. I can then engrave at any DPI or interval I want, but this small size is not what I’m aiming for.
