Inkscape to Lightburn Copy&Paste Issue

Hi guys,

I was able to copy and paste directly from Inkscape to Lightburn in my old laptop but in the new one it sends the file as an image, not a vector. How can I fix it? I searched everything but couldn’t find the fix.

Your help is greatly appriciated

I’ve just tested this on my system and it pastes as a vector. That’s using InkScape 1.3 and LB 1.4.04. I’ve had a look for a setting in InkScape that might control whether it gets copied as a vector or a raster but I’ve not found anything yet. I’ll let you know if I find anything.

There is a more recent InkScape update 1.31 that fixes a few bugs

I’ve no doubt. I don’t use InkScape very much so I’m not that bothered about keeping up with the latest version. I tend to use CorelDraw or Affinity Designer but I find it useful when trying to help people out on the forum who might not have the funds for Corel or Affinity (or other paid-for vector graphics programs).

Uh-oh. If you’re addressing Inkscape bugs then let’s not forget about the latest release, 1.3.2:

1.3.1 shipped with known corruption bugs.

Really?

1.3.2 was released on Dec. 1st. I’ve seen it there for several days. Perhaps you’re on a conservatively cached proxy?

I tried the latest versions of Inkscape and Lightburn both on Mac and Windows and they don’t work. Very strange!

Yes that is odd. Perhaps someone with more experience with Inkscape might know what’s going on.

I have no problem copying from Inkscape to LightBurn on Win11. The reverse is not true, however.

Check if you have anything on that’s meant to “manage” your clipboard. If so, disable and retry.

You are correct sir! Cache is a real thing if you dont hit refresh…

1.32 it is

Im pretty sure this is the culprit!

Would be interested to see what version InkScape is causing this

Nice.

I suspect this would be at the OS level or utility level since I don’t have a problem with it. What’s a bit surprising is that OP is seeing this on Mac and Windows…

don’t know what I did but restarting did the trick
