Spent sometime on the trial version and then purchased a licence key, so have finally got the machine and software setup so all works correctly, Now i am being offered a newer version so will all my settings be retained after the upgrade?

Yes, updates are done to correct bugs as well as add new features. Upgrading to the latest version will preserve all of your settings.
