Invert Image and Negative image?

I am confused. I have searched and can not find much of any answers. But could someone please explain what they are and when to use Negative image and when to use invert image please. I obvious see the differance when I change, but when tp use each one?

Negative image is a physical change in the ouput, and Invert switch is a way to preview the output on dark surfaces.
Per the LightBurn documentation:

Negative Image[(Image Mode - LightBurn Documentation)

This will invert your image during engraving. Light becomes dark, and dark becomes light. This is useful for engraving slate or glass, where burned areas become lighter.

Use this in conjunction with the Invert switch in the Preview window to see how your engraving will look on dark surfaces
