Invert Image Not Working?

G’day, I am having trouble with the invert image function. I have an image, and if I select invert image from the layer options, it still outputs the original way. Sure I can invert the image in some other software, but surely I can do it in LB?
I must be missing something obvious - anyone care to set me straight?

Are you basing this on actually burning the design? Enabling “Negative image” in Cut settings should absolutely negate the output of the image.

Note that the image in workspace will not appear any different.

yeah, actually burning the design there is no change.

Can you upload a .lbrn file where this is occurring?

What version of LightBurn are you using and on what OS?

Lighburn - 1.4.01
OS - Windows 7
harley Boyd bitmap.lbrn2 (533.2 KB)

Something is going on specifically with the image used but can’t quite sort it out.

If you look very carefully, you can actually see that the Preview is different between the positive and negative versions. However, it’s not fully negating the image as you’d expect.

Can you upload the original image for review?

The original was a vector that I saved as a bmp within LB…specifically so I could invert it ‘easily’.

I think this is precisely why this is posing an issue.

I’m speculating but I think what’s going on is that since LightBurn converts everything to a 50% gray, inverting that would get you basically what you started with.

I’d suggest starting from a difference source.

And for this particular design, any resign you’re not sticking with vector graphics? Seems like an ideal candidate.
