Is MillMage able to render images? I see where there is that possibility in other places.
I mean, yes, but I suspect you’re more asking if it can do something with the image.
In which case, currently no - but you CAN take your MillMage file and open it in LightBurn, then use your laser on the image. This way you can have a single file for both applications.
There will likely be tools that can take advantage of greyscale maps (or other 3D file formats) to do relief carving in the future.
Or you can load the image into Lightburn, process the image and then do the Trace. Now copy that trace and paste it into MillMage as a vector of the image.
Unfortunately, you obviously can not do light and dark areas like you can with a laser. So a portrait needs to be processed differently, like with depth cutting variations known as contouring.
I know, but image processing is not there. That is why the Lightburn connection. ![]()
I am looking for the ability to do relief carving! I do have the ability for laser but that is not what I am looking for.
Thanks for the reply.
Anxiously awaiting the the upgrade.
Cheers, Mark
As we all are! I think we can do something with ball nose mills and depth maps, but I am not there yet. If someone knows the process, feel free to jump in and share what you know.
There is currently no way to do a 3D relief that’s available to the public ![]()
How do I become not-public? Bet you were hoping I did not spot that.
I need to play with my 3D printer to warm up on slicers and layers oh my!
Well you would have to work for LightBurn
I am trying real hard to keep my lasers from turning into a job now. I will wait. ![]()
@Colin I’m willing to Beta test if you ever need one.
