OK, let’s say I want to make changes to multiple items on a project, say, Test Engrave.
I want to change the image mode for all squares. Can I highlight all needing the change and do them all at one time?
Are you referring to the material test tool when you say ‘Test Engrave’?
If your images are on the same layer, then yes you can change them all at once. If they are on a separate layer, then you’ll have to click into that layer to change the settings for each.
It would be very convenient to be able to make changes to grouped items, even if on different layers. This would speed up work flow in some cases.
Please share what you mean by the word “change(s)”. You mention the desire to change a thing, but do not define what change you’d like to make.
Maybe he wants “parametric” capabilities to change all similar objects?
Settings like speed, power, image mode, whatever the need calls for. If you have 20 or 30 squares, let’s say, (not in an array) and you want to change a setting…
Sorry, I like other older people think you can read my thought process when writing questions.
You are saying you have them on different layers and want to change something like the speed for all of them? Why don’t you put them on the same layer?
This may be a cut or engrave test that have separate layers for whatever reason, but I want to change the whole row or column speed or power. Just using this as an example.
I am guessing since this seems to be very technical, you can’t group objects together and make any setting changes to the objects to the whole group.
This can be done using shape properties. Set all of them to the same layer, set a base power and speed for this layer, and then adjust the power levels via shape properties. Then all of those shapes only get a percentage of the layer setting. This is how material tests were realized before the generator was integrated in LB.
What do you mean by “image mode”? We are guessing what you want until you provide a Lightburn file or image to help us understand.
Greyscale, Threshold, Jarvas, Stucky, you know… Image Mode.
I was afraid that is what you meant. We know images are different than lines that make squares. I, and maybe others, were confused when you said “squares”, which would imply the line mode.
If your original question was “Can images be grouped and have their properties all changed at the same time?”, then the answer is no because each image is unique in the brightness, contrast, and shading. This is what makes processing images so challenging.
If that was not your question, then various options have been provided above. Although I do not try to use group edits, I can see why that would be a handy feature.
