I am doing a panel where there is text inside shapes that are to be cut out. If I select and cut from layer C3 and try to paste it to layer C1 after deleting layer C3, it simply recreates layer C3.
What you could do, is select the shapes, etc. that you want duplicated in another layer. Do a Control-D, which will Duplicate the shapes. Immediately after you do the Control-D, select the color for the layer you want the shapes in, as they will be selected as the active shapes from the Duplication process. This will place the newly duplicated shapes into whatever layer you select.
If your desire is to move those sets of shapes from one layer to another then try this:
- select shapes to move
- push desired Layer color on bottom layer selector
That will reassign the layer associated to those shapes.
