Is there a way to just laser a selected object in a pic?

I took a pic and deleted the background and that area is now blank / white when I paste it in lightburn. When I laser it that white portion is black - I only what the object I selected to be lasered - is there a way to do that / get rid of the background area ?

You need to cut out that part of the image, this can be easily done with mask and the “Cut shapes” function in LightBurn. If you can’t figure it out, you can upload your file here and I’ll guide you to the target.

Where are the “mask” and “Cut shapes” buttons / functions located ?

It is under “Tools” that you find the line tool and “cut shapes”. If you do not want to use a square, e.g. to cut with, you must draw the contours with the line tool. (it must be a closed shape)

So I used the line mode and drew around the picture then around all the white portion to close the loop and went under tolls and the “cut shape” function would not highlight for me to select

send the file and mark what needs to be cut

I’ve watched a video - shift selected the cut part then the whole thing but when I go to separate it just moves the traced line
