This morning I started up my computer and it needed a windows update. Now my laser will only preview and run the red light laser preview when I hit start. I can’t get the laser to fire. Could this be related to the windows update or is there some other hardware issue? I have only had this laser and software for about 2 weeks now.
Hi @johcze
From what you’ve described, it’s difficult to say yet. A Windows update is unlikely to directly stop the laser from firing while still allowing framing/preview to work, so we’ll need a bit more detail to narrow this down.
Could you please share:
-
The exact Monport model (espcially the controller type)
-
How you’re connecting (USB or Ethernet)
-
A screenshot of your LightBurn main window
-
A screenshot of your Cuts/Layers tab showing the layer settings
If the machine moves and the “red light” preview works but the laser doesn’t fire, that’s often one of three things:
-
The layer is set to Line/Fill with Output turned off
-
Power is set very low (or set to 0%)
-
A safety interlock or hardware protection (door switch, water flow sensor, etc.) is preventing firing, or the PSU or tube has failed.
Once we can see the layer settings or know even a little more about your setup, we’ll be able to narrow this down.
