Issues with Welding Shapes: Software Shows Preference for 1 Layer

Issues with Welding Shapes: Software Shows Preference for 1 Layer…

I select the top and bottom layer… then I use weld and it ALWAYS gives preference to the bottom layer. I’ve tried selecting in different orders. Any ideas for me? The one issue might be that the top design is a line drawing (the idea being to color it in once the laser cutter engraves the lines).

To give you an idea, I have a snake design in the background and flowers that I’m putting in front of it. I want the snake partially hidden behind the flowers.

Send the file or parts of the file that you want welded.

This is the file. Excuse the stuff to the right. I’d really like to understand what I’m doing wrong here.

Thanks!

Danielle, is this what you are looking for?

No, I wanted the snake behind the flowers.

Here are 2 slightly different versions. You change the order in which the layers are to be displayed on the right side in the layer menu.

If you want parts of the snake hidden and the snake is made of lines/open shapes then you want to be using the cut shapes tool.

Thank you but the image still isn’t correct- the flowers are still intersected by the lines for the snake … I’m trying to remove those. I’ll try more in LB.

Thank you. Creating the outline and using subtract worked!
