My name is Ilias, I’m running a small business based in Europe and I recently purchased a fiber laser machine equipped with a JCZ LMCV2 controller.
I’m trying to install the machine on my Microsoft Surface Pro 11 running Windows 11 (64-bit) using LightBurn, but I’m running into a persistent issue.
When I try to install the USB driver for the controller (from the manufacturer’s folder named USB_LMCV2/Win10/64-bit), I get the following error:
“The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation”
or
“The style of the INF file is different from the required style”
I’ve already tried:
• Disabling driver signature enforcement via advanced startup
• Installing from both Windows 10 and Windows 7 folders
• Running as administrator
• Manual installation through Device Manager
Still no success — the device shows as USBLMCV2 in Device Manager, but LightBurn keeps saying “Disconnected”.
I know the machine works fine — I tested it successfully on another laptop using LightBurn without any problems. So the issue is clearly the driver on this Surface Pro 11 setup.
Could anyone help me locate a working, signed USB driver INF for JCZ LMCV2 compatible with Windows 11 and LightBurn?
Or is there a workaround (maybe EZCAD installed first, or any other trick)?
Thanks in advance for your help — I’m trying to avoid replacing the machine just because of a USB/driver conflict.
That’s ARM architecture? Might be a trick to get the driver working, the one in the LightBurn windows installer will be for x86/x64 systems so wont be compatible.
If you see USBLMCV2 in Device Manager that is good, maybe you could try use Zadig to assign an ARM version of the WinUSB driver to the device, but this may not be possible…@adammhaile will know?
Thank you for your response and support on the forum.
I’m confirming that my device is a Microsoft Surface Pro 11 (5G, 2024 version) which runs on Windows 11 Home ARM64, with the following specs:
Processor: Snapdragon X Elite (12 cores @ 3.40 GHz)
GPU: Qualcomm Adreno (X1-85)
OS: Windows 11 Home – Version 26100.3476
Architecture: ARM64
LightBurn Version: 1.7.0x
Controller: JCZ USBLMCV2 (Fiber laser) – works perfectly on another x64 Windows machine.
When I try to install the driver for JCZ (LMCV2), I receive the following error:
“The INF file you selected does not support this installation method.” Or “The style of the INF file is not the required one.”
It seems that the x64 driver included in LightBurn or provided by JCZ cannot be installed on ARM-based Windows systems.
What I would like to know:
Will LightBurn provide an ARM-compatible USBLMCV2 driver in the near future?
Is there any beta version of this driver I can help test or try?
Would using Zadig or WinUSB with a signed ARM driver work temporarily?
I’d love to use my Surface Pro as my main design and engraving computer. It’s very powerful, portable, and the setup would be ideal if I can just get the JCZ laser to connect.
