I just upgraded 1.5.00. I restarted and created a project for a tumbler. When I do tumblers, I always use Current Position. This time my laser ran to the right and set off the boundary error. I have restarted the laser, restarted my pc multiple times. Checked connections.
I finally realized what is going on. I have a couple of graphics outside the grid area. I have ‘Cut Selected Graphics’ set and I have ignore out of bounds shapes. But I noticed, though I have an object selected on the grid, the only way my origin stays on the grid is if I select Absolute Coordinates.
Using Current position or User Origin, if I take everything outside the grid, move it below and to the right of the grid then my origin will remain on the uppermost item in the grid. Clicking on another object, the origin does not move to the selected object.
I have never had the origin act like this. I have clicked clear origin and nothing changes. I pulled up a couple of old projects and selected current position as I click on each object, the origin follows to that object. I’m afraid to save any of my old projects for fear they will act like the one I just created.
What happened to LightBurn with this upgrade? How do I go back until this is fixed?
I’ve read through your post a couple of different times and the behavior seems normal to me unless I’m missing something.
The only way it would not consider all shapes as part of the job origin is if you enabled “Use Selection Origin” in Laser window. If you enable that, I believe it will get you the behavior that you expect.
In any case, if you’d like to revert to any older version download from the link and install.
I must have turned on ‘Use Selection Origin’ long ago and never noticed it was on. I opened several old projects and all of them had that option selected.
After the upgrade, ‘Use Selection Origin’ was no longer selected and my new project was not acting like the old projects. I was not paying attention to that option’s setting.
Thank you for pointing that out and now I feel like a butthead for saying it was an issue with the upgrade when all along the problem was between the chair and the keyboard.
So true. Some of my work software (CMM and CAD, mostly) have pages and pages of options. I have to make a setup cheatsheet so I can get things back to normal after a big update.
