K40 - Monport V2 for Lightburn - Power Settings

Thank you Jack! I edited the post and labeled the pictures, they are basically 30,50,70,100% from low volts to 3.3V I’ll double check the volt output but I think I received a bad board. I’ll contact Monport and see about a replacement. In the meantime I’ll do some research on the TEM0 mode test.

Also my S value is 1000 and $30 is 1000

Again, Thank you for all of your help!
Kevin Parks

Monport finally responded after I told them that I think I have a bad board. They sent me an email on how to adjust my LPS output. The laser worked perfectly fine with M2Nano board and K40 Whisperer, I just wanted to be able to use Lightburn on it.

Kevin

Not clear how that was of any help…

How did they advise you to adjust the lps?

:smile_cat:

They sent me this video. I’ll have to pull my power supply out and see if I can find an adjustment screw. Power Supply Adjustment - Google Drive

Let me know if the link doesn’t work, I can download it and see if I can load it on this forum.

This would suggest that the lps is OK and in no need of adjustment.

I don’t think you can turn it up enough to get the proper power out with a pwm of only 66%. This also makes it really tough on how to guesstimate power…

I’m really at a loss for a good suggestion. If the board isn’t producing the proper output, it isn’t ever going to work…

The video runs fine … did they tell you what to adjust it to, mA wise?

Good luck

No, this is what they sent me.

Hi Kevin,

I will have to confirm this with our Engineer. Additionally, I’m sending you the video on the power supply adjustment. Please see the link provided.

I advised I could watch the video from the first link… assume they are the same.

Don’t know what to tell you at this point. I know for full output you need to reach 5V on the IN pin of the lps.

Did you advise them that even at 3.3V input to lps there is no change in mA reading?

It should change, even if it’s a compressed range.

Good luck

I am getting a change in mA. In this post from the other day i was trying to run a test and record the volts in and the mA out at the same time and I don’t think I was getting accurate V readings. I was using my multi meter to test volts and the machines mA meter to watch the mA’s.

As a synopsis… if you double the power from 20% to 40% you only increase the current by 1mA…

Increase it by 50%, to 60% power, the increase in current is doubled.

A bump from 60% to 80% or a 33%, increases it the current by 60%… this isn’t right.

This isn’t going to be exactly linear, but it should be reasonably close.

I do my lps like they suggest… however, I set the percent power to 50% and set the pot in the lps to 50% of my maximum current value… I don’t think that’s going to work with your machine.

I also purchased ceramic screwdrivers for poking around when high voltage is present. 30kV can be very enlightening, but it’s not very pleasurable.

My lps pot adjustment requires you to be a contortionist. Taken from the little access panel on the rear…

Thanks Jack, I’m going to try to test it again this weekend and see if I can find the lps adjustment screw. I’m going to figure out if it’s even possible to safely adjust it will its inside the K40. I’ll post back if I can get more accurate % to V to mA reading. I have to figure out my max mA, I think i seen like 17mA is a safe max mA but I’m not sure.
