K40 plus I had a tiny shock

Ok so it wasnt a big shock but the kind of shock that lets u know, hey youve just been shocked.
My machine is new and it hasnt been powered on or even plugged in.
I attempted to remove the mesh bed and i got a tiny little shock.
Is this a problem and what should i do?
I have no electrical experience
I noticed prior to happening that when i manually moved the gantry a light on the inside flashed as well as the light on the controll panel

Matt…

when you move the x or y axis it turns the stepper motor, which the acts as a small generator, inducing voltage back into the system.
This is why you probably saw the light come on for an instant.
This is normal for these types of systems…
As for the Shock, not sure could have been static build up…
Again if the machine was un-plugged not to worry…

Plugging your machine into a proper 3 prong plug will ground the electronics properly, and as an extra step you can also strap ground your machine to a proper earth ground nearby… get someone that knowsthe proper way to do this before hand…

I agree with @Chuckphd in that the motors can generate power, as long as there is a load, the power is drained off and voltages kept low. These don’t generate hundreds of volts, so that removes them from being a shock hazard.

If the machine has never been connected to the mains, the only thing left is a static charge, again as @Chuckphd speculated.

Do you live in a dry climate or has it been dry in your area?

If you get this continuously when plugged in, that’s an issue, but it doesn’t sound like it’s anything to worry about.

Have fun
