Laser burning out of control on x axis

When I try and engrave slate tiles the laser (X-Tool D1 10w) will run perfect for 1/2 the job. Then it will start to accelerate and move faster going left, the laser shifts off axis and continues to burn a distorted image. I am running 140mm/sec at 60% power with a .08mm. After the brief out of control acceleration and shifts off course, it slows back down and continues perfectly for the rest of the distorted job.
Can anyone help? I have ruined too many products to continue without some changes.

If you reduce speed considerably, let’s say by 50%, does the problem still occur? Can you upload a screenshot of the design or the .lbrn file for review? There may be something in the design contributing as well.

I think I found the issue. I had been using the “Fast White Space Scan” setting at 160mm/sec (theoretically top speed for the D1). The laser would still shift the image burning at 50mm/sec during White Space moves. I disabled this option and now it appears to be working correctly. Is there a bug in Lightburn / D1 somewhere? It would speed up my production if I could use this option to overscan “white” spaces in designs. ???

The D1 has a history of firmware bugs. In this case I’m not sure if it’s a bug. From your description the machine was accelerating in a way unintended. If that’s the case then possibly a bug. However, if the machine was just missing steps because the speed was too high then It’s a mechanical limitation of the machine.

You may want to do a full mechanical review of the machine. Belt tension, pinion grub screws, wheel tension, etc. If those are all good then you’re dealing with the limitation of the motor.

I suspect this is not due to the speed itself but due to the acceleration configuration used for this move. This wouldn’t be user configurable.

And I do recall that acceleration issues were a known firmware problem for the D1.
