Laser burns (no cut) near left edge of honeycomb base plate

Sculpfun S30 (GRBL) with LT 80W (10W optical). LB 1.7.08. Windows 11 laptop. Photo shows two cuts of same project: Speed 120 Power 70 Pass 1 no apparent warping of either piece of 3mm ply. First cut was with ply up close to honeycomb y-axis edge. Strip approx 2cm wide shows burn rather than cut. Rest of cut ok. For second cut, ply sheet was moved some 2cm away from left edge of honeycomb and the whole project was cut. Any ideas gratefully received.

If you have checked that your bed and material are level, i.e. focus is the same all over, then it is your plywood that has either knots or glue pockets or both problems at the same time.
It is a very “normal/known” problem, unfortunately.
I regularly throw out workpieces because my 60Watt CO2 laser has run into the same problem, unless I buy special laser-friendly plywood.
