I thought from watching videos that the laser Color would be red when it is framing! Mine is blue, I’m using an atomstack m50 and of course light burn software!
Blue cannot be looked at, right???
Some lasers come equipped with a red dot for locating parts - if your laser has this, it will need to be turned on and have the Red Dot Offset set up under ‘Edit > Device settings’
If you don’t have one, you can frame with your diode at a very low power, but you should definitely wear eye protection.
If it’s visible or not … any output of a laser can be a safety issue, so wear eye protection in any case.
Like the saying… do not look into laser with remaining eye…
I have a couple of lasers, the CO2 is invisible, but is blocked by my regular glasses, made of polycarbonate, so I can use them as safety glasses… A CO2 will damage the cornea, whereas a visible light laser will damage the retina… depends on the lasers frequency.
My other lasers, I have to have the Hollywood look like sunglasses…
Where the beam is exciting the material can produce a wide range of bright light into the UV range and can also damage your eyes… this is similar to watching an arc welder operating.
Take care
So I found the laser offset
If I enable pointer offset it asks for x and y coordinates, do I have to enter anything
And since we’re on the topic of the laser , is there a certain type is safety glasses that are recommended?
Find out what frequency (wavelength) you laser produces and use that information to select some googles.
Looks like it’s 455nM +/- 5nM …
This thread may be useful:
The “safety glasses” shipped with diode lasers seem to be junk, surely because effective goggles are rather expensive, so don’t expect them to save your vision.
