Laser cut files online

Hello Lightburn community,

i’m new to laser cutting i just purchased my the Lightburn software, and a 150W CO2 laser (9060).

In the “Finished Creations” i’ve seen some very very nice works. Hope to get there someday.

After cutting a bunch of christmas decorations i was looking around for inspiration to find files which i can cut and/or engrave.

I found this page: link, and i am courious about your opinion. Should i go with it?

I would personally not purchase there. I can’t say for sure, but most of the sites that offer a big bundle of files often include lots of files that are stolen from other designers and / or just don’t work properly.

Learning to design your own files is very rewarding and also teaches you how to fix a file purchased elsewhere. There are many sites to help such as box generators (boxes.py & makercase are just 2), subscription services like creative fabrica, they also allow individual file purchase if you don’t want to subscribe.

The other positive with designing your own file is you don’t have to be concerned with copyright issues.

If you do want to purchase files, I would recommend buying a specific file from a seller on etsy that has good reviews from other laser makers rather than a bundle. Individuals are more likely to help resolve any issues you might come across.

I agree with @thelmuth , but for another reason. I consider those prices excessive for what you are getting. I also noticed there is no detailed descriptions, so you do not know if a rocking chair is 4 feet or 4 inches tall.

If you cannot resist the urge to buy a bulk package, look for one that gives you 15,000 files for $29.95 instead. At least there you know you are getting a lot of junk files along with a handfull of good ones.
