Laser cutting between shapes GRBL-M3 1.1e or earlier

Hi everyone,
I am running a Snapmaker, but when it connects to Lightburn it registers as GRBL-M3 1.1e or earlier.

I lasercut a bunch of pieces on balsa wood earlier in the year. I have been busy and am now trying to continue the project, but suddenly it won’t stop cutting in between letters/shapes. In other words, the laser is burning the travel lines where it should be turning off. I have tried to find the solution, but the only advice I have found addresses 1.1f or later, where you need to type $32=1 into the console. Unfortunately, mine says 1.1e or earlier.

I have updated the firmware on my snapmaker, updated lightburn to the latest version, and tried everything I can think of with no luck. The ONLY thing that is different is that I moved the newer computer it was previously connected to, and switched it out for an older compter. I am about to try switching the computers back, but this is a big hassle and I’d like to see if there is anything else I can try (or something obvious I’m missing) before I do all that.

Thanks in advance.

You can manually change the device type.

  1. Push Devices button in Laser window
  2. Select your device and push Edit
  3. Pick your device type
  4. Click through next on other selections as long as you have no changes to make

I added my device manually but it never worked, but editing the device seems to have solved the problem! I don’t really understand how this was causing the issue but I don’t really care at this point, I’m just very excited it’s working again. Thank you VERY much, I really appreciate the advice.
