Laser cutting random small lines in random locations

Hello, I continue to get random lines/notches in my patches. This wasn’t always the case, but has recently been recurring. It happens most often on one edge of a leatherette patch. But it also happens within the design. I’ve attached a couple of pictures. Anyone have any advice? Thank you in advance

Can’t say for certain but this may be indicative of a failing Laser Power Supply. Your artifacts don’t look exactly like typical failure scenarios but the type and frequency are typical.

Let’s see what others have to say.

Update: I disconnected laser from my computer and got rid of the lines. however, I still got notches on one of the cutting edges. Perhaps it is getting too hot?

Do these artifacts show up on the Ruida panel after burning? I don’t see how disconnecting the computer would have made a difference unless this was caused by a communication issue, which wouldn’t be out of the question. But in that case you would see these artifacts show up on the panel.

Has there been any change to the material being used or settings since this last worked correctly?

Like a new batch of patches came in?

Yes. But it looks like to me that OP is cutting out his own patches from bulk material.

I may have solved my issue here.

First, thanks for the help and I am cutting from bulk material.

Typically I always test going down in speed/power for better results. This time, the case was the opposite. I needed to increase the cut speed up quite a bit and got a much smoother result. I knocked out the 3 I needed with great results.

I just adjusted in the wrong direction from the manufacturer’s line cut recommendation.

Thanks again!
