Laser cutting strange shapes

HI
I have a Creality Falcon 2 22w laser and it is not cutting squares when it is supposed to, on CERTAIN places. I will attach a photo of what the design looks like and then next to it, the photo of what the laser actually cuts. I have cut this twice with the same result. Any ideas?

This is almost certainly backlash along the X-Axis.

The two left-most arms in your art are more pointed in the workspace than they were produced. When the Machine is loose along the X-Axis some of the travel that would make those points sharp is lost.

As the engraver proceeds around that complex shape, travel along the X-Axis reverses and a small amount the travel is lost.

Test all the set screws in all the driven pulleys or sprockets. Confirm they are tight with the Allen Wrench. Also, attempt to wiggle the head of the laser left to right to see if the looseness is between the laser engraver head carrier and the gantry.

Than you very much for the reply JohnJohn.
I’ll have a look at it in the morning and tighten everything, as I have not done any of that kind of thing since I received the pre-assembled machine.

When Japan made our stuff, everything was so tight you had to use an impact to break things loose. The Chinese are just the opposite, everything is loose.

Not having real JIS screwdrivers made it seem worse.

JohnJohn, sorry for the late reply.
You were 100% on the money with your statement re the loose axes screws.
I tightened them and now the machine is functioning as expected.

Have a great day further and thanks again.
