Hello, I’m new here. I’m trying to help a friend get her TTS55 working. At first, the PC didn’t recognize her engraver. After many attempts, I used MKS TOOLS and managed to get the laser to move normally. However, when I send the cut to the machine, the laser doesn’t fire, and even in the Alser test at 2% power it wasn’t possible to fire it. The error message that appears is: “[MSG:M4 requires laser mode or a reversible spindle]
error:20

I copied these numbers from the internet and pasted them to see if it would solve the problem, but it’s still the same:

Error:20:envelope:

The machine received an unsupported or invalid GCode command. This is usually the result of the wrong device type being selected.

Tip

To check what version of GRBL your laser is running, enter $I into the Console window and press Enter. The messages shown in response should include the GRBL version in a message starting with VER.

  • Make sure your device type is set correctly. In most cases, your device should be set to GRBL. If your laser is running GRBL 1.1e or earlier, change your device type to GRBL-M3. To check or change your device type:
    • Click the Devices button in the Laser window
    • Double-click your device
    • Change the device type if needed
    • Click Next and then Finish to complete the setup prompts and save the changes
  • If your laser is running GRBL 1.1f or later, and the Error:20 message is accompanied by MSG: M4 requires laser mode or a reversible spindle, enter $32=1 in the Console window and press Enter to enable Laser Mode.

Additionally, make sure that you didn’t activate “gcode clustering” in device settings.

Obrigado

Hello! I’ve already changed to glb1.1 and it didn’t connect. I went back to Glb and it connected. I can even move the laser with the movement arrows and send it to cut, but the laser doesn’t fire. I’ve already removed the original cannon from the machine and put mine on my machine and the laser that was on the other machine worked very well on my machine. And I put my laser on the machine that has the problem and it didn’t fire either.
To sum up: the 2 lasers I have work well on machine 1, on machine number 2 neither laser fires.
Thank you

It looks like you’re diagnosing why the lasers function on one computer but not the other. Here are a few things to check:

  1. G-code Clustering: Is it disabled, as @misken suggested? This setting can affect command processing.
  2. USB Cable Issues: A faulty cable could be disrupting the connection.
  3. Drivers: Does the second computer have the correct drivers installed? Missing or outdated drivers might be the culprit.
    Please see:

Let us know what you find!

In LightBurn, Draw a small square near the origin and send this as a project to the laser engraver.

Confirm that you receive the error message about the unrecognized GCode command.

In LightBurn, click File, click Save GCode and save that file somewhere convenient on your computer.

Drag and Drop (or Upload) the GCode file into your next reply here.

If you are still recieveing this error message, this will show us the code that was rejected by the engraver. We can then compare it to working examples and help advise which settings require adjustment.

Ola!

<Idle|MPos:-44.700,57.318,0.000|FS:0,0|Ov:100,100,100>
ok
A iniciar transmissão

Obrigado

Looks like your firmware is very old. Did you try to change the laser type to grbl-m3?
