I can engrave successfully on my Genmitsu 10W laser on Wood and on slate with images. My issue is with pictures on slate. I can’t seem to master the exact settings. I use Imgr-R and Lightburn’s photo editor, but as you can see from the samples below, everyone looks like a ghost! Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

runs should help pin down the settings for your machine on your slate, which will likely differ from all other machines and slates.

It’s because you need to invert them. Otherwise, you have the negative effect, that’s why they look like ghosts. Remember that a pixel on slate gets white, not black.
@Jack - I’ve done a lot of slate, but I’ve never come across a slate that is as light as that in the U.K. Are you in the US, and is that peculiar to your locality? Looks nice to work with.
