Have had atezr laser etcher, for 2 plus years, recently I have had to clean the head rather frequently, also the air assist seems to not working as well too. I generally etch 14 inch round boards, when I start the project the laser etching looks fine but when it gets about have done the etch begins to fade and doesn’t look as sharp, then it will stop etching completely for a while before it goes back to the fading etch. Notice that the cone guard if building up will residue quickly. Any suggestion, might it just be that i need a new air assist or that that laser head has seen better days and i will need to replace? Thanks
One of the issues we all face is keeping the debris out of everything, especially the greasy go rounds.
Led lasers are more difficult as they are not usually designed for the user to open them up for cleaning.. Don’t know about Atezr machines.
That helps keep debris off the lens, if that’s not working, then you will have build up issues.
Sounds like it needs a good cleaning.
These are really pretty simple, unlike a co2 cleaning/alignment task. It’s always the place to start if you have issues like yours.
What you lase and how much time you lase it will relate to debris created. Of course you can get dirty materials.
Good luck.

This suggests the surface is not flat. Rarely does a problem get worse, then get better. I have an 11” diameter Mango Wood slab that has a slight curvature when viewed from the edge.
I am guessing your “rounds” are live edge (with or without bark) tree slices. Those tend to have a lot of sap in them, and that is your buildup on the nozzle.
Curious, you still using your back porch for a workshop?
Lol no I made a little set up in the side room.
