If I pause the gcode and want to increase the laser power, the laser turns on and burns my workpiece because it remains stationary.
Is this a software bug or am I doing something wrong?

Most likely one of the following:
The likelihood of this particular issue being caused by LightBurn I would say almost zero.
Are you able to modulate power when using the Fire button in Move window? Can you start from no light and increase intensity by increasing power %?
Can you provide the following?

I work with a laptop windows 7 and can set the laser power properly.
I don’t see any specific issue with the GRBL config. Can you take a screenshot of Edit->Device Settings?
I don’t see a problem there.
Can you confirm that you can modulate power using the Fire button in Move window?
Also, with the design loaded, can you go to File->Save gcode, then save to a file with a .txt extension and then upload the file here?
@berainlb There is no fire button in the Move window
i have made a little video https://youtu.be/I-Lz3KRlunQ
test.txt (1.9 KB)
You can enable Fire button in Edit->Device Settings->Enable laser fire button.
I reviewed the video. It looked like the laser was off when paused and only turned on when you changed the power level. If that’s the case then I suspect it’s possible that changing the power level will turn on the laser even when paused. That’s managed directly by the controller. I have not tested this so not sure if this is common behavior.
Thank you for the power button.
As you describe it, it is absolutely correct. Pause goes well and the laser turns on when you press any button in the screen.
In that case I’d advise just not attempting to adjust power while paused. You should be able to adjust power while in motion, however. In general, I’d advise against relying so much on making real-time adjustments to power. It’s not very repeatable and can be hard to recreate those settings later.
Thanks…
I had already thought of that and will have to deal with the software differently, I wanted to first view the product during the engarve route and then adjust it. But it can also be different
I checked with our Dev team and yes, this is a firmware level issue, not something that LightBurn can control. Pressing the button while paused is essentially sending a ‘Spindle On @ x Speed’ and that will enable the spindle (laser) again.
Thanks @Colin that is clear…
shouldn’t the spindle frame disappear when the pause button is pressed.
But I can close it, I know enough, it’s not me or the software.
